# Backup codes

> Generate and store emergency MFA backup codes.

Backup codes let you sign in when your authenticator app is unavailable.

## Generate backup codes

1. Go to profile -> `Security`.
2. Locate `Multi-factor authentication`.
3. Click `Generate`.
4. Save codes securely offline.

Each backup code is single-use.
